Recruitment Procedures

Recruitment Procedures

1.     Introduction

Recruitment is the process of identifying and enticing potential employees to fill open jobs in a company. It identifies applicants who possess the skills and attitudes necessary to help a business achieve its goals. The HR team of a company must follow the five best practices to maximize the efficiency of hiring (as shown in the following image). These five steps will ensure that your recruitment process runs smoothly. Furthermore, these procedures ensure that the recruitment process is consistent and appropriate (Tutorials Point, 2022).

The process of recruiting is the first stage in building a strong resource base. Starting with locating resources, arranging and conducting interviews, and finally selecting the best individuals, the process follows a systematic procedure (Tutorials Point, 2022).

When a job opening arises, the HRM professional should be prepared to fill it based on this information. The following are some of the factors of creating a recruitment strategy (Libraries, 2011):

1.1 Refer to a labor plan.

1.2 Use questionnaires to verify if the job analysis is correct.

1.3 Create the job description and requirements.

1.4 Use a bidding mechanism to recruit and evaluate internal candidates for potential promotions.

1.5 Determine the most effective recruitment methods for the role.

1.6 Establish a recruitment strategy.

2.     Recruitment and selection process overview

The Human Resource department's key job is recruitment and selection. It is one of the most significant functions of the human resources department. It includes the following phases, which are also known as the staffing function (Chungyalpa, W;, 2016)

2.1 Job Analysis

The job analysis is a formal system for determining what tasks people really undertake at work. A job analysis is used to ensure that the job and the employee are a good fit, as well as to define how employee performance will be measured (Libraries, 2011)

2.2 Manpower Planning

Manpower planning is an important part of an organization's human resource management role. Manpower planning, in particular, analyses the gap between staff availability (internal and external to the business) and staffing requirements (to accomplish tasks within the organization) over time and recommends actions to close it (Khoong, C M;, 1996).

2.3 Recruitment and Selection

Recruitment and selection entails developing predictions about future behavior in order to determine who is most suited for a certain position. Because the future is unpredictable, predictions must always be couched in terms of probabilities (Bach, Stephen;, 2005).

3.     Conclusion

Human resource management is becoming an increasingly important part of corporate and government objectives. There is a growing recognition among companies that thoughtful evaluation of HR issues is critical to company effectiveness. Intangible people-related assets including worker skills, customer relationships, employee engagement, and branding are also becoming more important to effectiveness.
